Casa Cascada – Printmaking Studios – Printmaking Courses
Nestling in the El Torcal valley, in Southern Spain, close to the ancient town of Antequera, yet only 30 minutes away from Malaga airport and the bright lights of the Costa del Sol, you find Casa Cascada, a living and working space for printmaker and artist Mariann Johansen-Ellis. Casa Cascada is a hideaway, a place to come and concentrate on you and your creative side, with the help of Mariann, and her staff, who in every way will make your printmaking course an experience for you. As a group of no more than 8 people you will be led through the different kinds of printmaking, with courses tailored to every level, from the absolute beginner to accomplished printmakers, the aim being to bring home some stunning prints. As a group you will find that joys are shared, and mistakes, not made by you alone, all progress and problems discussed in a relaxed way, over poolside lunch. The courses will include the traditional craft of etching, immersing a copperplate in acid to form lines that can be inked and printed. Linocuts, taken to a new level they will look very different from the simple images you remember from school. Monotypes and monoprints… 2 diffferent methods, with a very painterly look in common. Drypoint, the very free printmaking form of drawing direct on to metal, then inking up the plate and printing it. Also specialized forms of printmaking, combination prints, the art of aquatint and collagraphs etc. Most courses run over a working week of 5 days. Staying in the area, there are beautiful hotels and B&B’s for you to choose from offering stunning views and the opportunity to enjoy a holiday, in an area full of the wonderful sights and sounds of Andalucia. Please send me your e-mail or snail mail address and I will send you the course schedule for autumn2008 and spring 2009. I look forward to hearing from you……… Mariann (Click here to enquiry Print Making Course) Mariann Johansen-Ellis has worked for over 10 years as a printmaking artist, she gives classes both privately and also at Singapore Tyler Print Institute (www.stpi.com.sg).
